What was the highlight of Hotel Rio Vista El Fuerte
Awesome river view.
The view of the river was outstanding. Loved sitting on the balcony. Loved the bird murals everywhere. So unique. Nice hosts. Great place to stay.
The shower pipe was leaking into the wall,spraying out from the leak, which made the operation difficult.

What was the highlight of Hotel Rio Vista El Fuerte
Nice view and location, but otherwise leaves much to be desired.
View was fabulous. Accommodating staff. They were kind enough to let me leave my car in the parking lot, while I took the train into Copper Canyon overnight. Good breakfast (not included). Lots of hummingbirds and other kinds of birds around. Interesting looking grounds.
Internet was out while I was there the first night. The first room had a strong chemical smell (fumigated?), the second room had no way to keep the water from the shower flowing out into the living area, and was very slippery and unsafe. Black particles of something falling from the ceiling were on the head of the bed, so I flipped around and slept with my head at the foot. Strong sewage smell walking back and forth to my car. Pool was green. Property is in dire need of some TLC. I left my laptop charger in the room (indirectly due to the issue with the black stuff on my bed). Tried emailing, and had my friend in Mazatlan try calling many times to ask that they send it to me, and had no luck. My friend was told that the phone lines weren't working when he tried to call.

great for nature lovers who want local culture also.
This was a real jewel. It is adjacent to the El Fuerte fort, right downtown, with an excellent view of the river. Nacho was pleasant and helpful, and Filipe was a great guide. Great birding and river trips.
Not a big deal to us, but they don’t serve lunch or dinner at the hotel.

OK for a short stay with lov river views
The river views. Comfortable beds. Quiet. Relaxing. River tour enjoyable.
Though I understand from the owner this hotel has been going twenty years... its still very much a 'work in progress'. It definitely needs some TLC and urgent maintenance. Its rough around the edges. Pool wasn't open. Yet we enjoyed our stay.
